Jobless rate ends summer lower in Riverside County
8+ hour, 55+ min ago (235+ words) RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KESQ) - Payroll gains overcame losses at the end of summer throughout the regional economy, pushing the unemployment rate down slightly in Riverside County, according to figures released today by the California Employment Development Department. Statewide labor market figures for September were finally released Friday, following a two-month delay stemming from the federal government shutdown, which impacted all data collection and publication by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in turn affecting EDD's publication schedule. The belatedly released figures indicated that the countywide jobless rate in September, based on preliminary EDD estimates, was 6.1%, compared to 6.3% in August. According to figures, the September rate was roughly half a percentage point higher than September 2024, when countywide unemployment stood at 5.5%. " The combined unemployment rate for Riverside and San Bernardino counties -- the Inland Empire -- was 5.9%, down from 6.1% in August, the EDD said. Bi-county data…...
BOYS BASKETBALL: Rose’s big night helps Riverside stay undefeated
9+ hour, 47+ min ago (530+ words) PLAINS TWP. " Nico Antoniacci's mere presence makes Riverside one of the top teams in all of District 2. It also frees up his teammates to make plays. That was the case Friday night when Brayden Rose showed what he can do, diving for loose balls, knocking down shots and playing the full length of the floor. Rose scored a game-high 26 points in Riverside's 62-48 victory over Wilkes-Barre Area in a nonleague boys basketball game at Wilkes-Barre Area High School. "That was one of the best games Brayden has had since he has been here in three years," Riverside coach Josh Aniska said. "He made it count when it mattered the most. We struggled a bit and relied on him in big moments. He is a tough guard. To me, his energy and effort separate him. He is a difference maker." Of course…...

News4JAX spoke to Maxcy back in October and explained the vision he had for the beautiful masterpiece. "A lot of waves and things like that going on, but you will be able to see above the water and below the water in the St. Johns River," he said. "There are going to be a lot of local wildlife, such as alligators, manatees, local birds, fish. Some fun little hidden things, like flora and fauna." The mural is on the JEA sewer pump station.
